KATHMANDU: Demanding that stakeholders pay a needful attention to youth issues in the context upcoming local level elections, various youth organisations submitted memorandums to the Election Commission and the Naya Shakti Party Nepal on Friday.separately met Election Commissioner Ila Sharma and chief of the Naya Shakti Party Nepal’s Parliamentary Department Keshav Dahal today.In the meeting with Sharma, the campaigners demanded that the Election Commission pay needful attention to likely incidents of violence with the mobilisation of youth.
Likewise, they raised concerns over increasing reports of political parties holding their programmes at schools violating rights of children and Nepal Police not being sensitive to gender issues while carrying out temporary police recruitment process.In response, Sharma said the Commission was sensitive enough on such issues and assured that the Commission would do the needful. She also appreciated the campaign.Meanwhile, the campaigners held a meeting with the Naya Shakti Party Nepal’s Parliamentary Department Chief Dahal and demanded that youth should be prioritised in candidacy during the upcoming polls.Likewise, they demanded a due prioritisation of youth’s issues including employment and self-employment and more budget allocation in youth-focused programmes in election manifestoes of the party.
